Industry Case | FRECON FR500 in Tunnel Mud Pump

Date:2026-05-20 10:00:19Author:FRECONClick:16

In tunnel construction, slurry pumps are indispensable, but energy consumption is a major concern. To achieve energy conservation and efficiency, the FRECON FR500A 380V/75kW inverter was used for remote control of the tunnel slurry pump, with significant results. This inverter boasts excellent performance and advanced control technology, providing stable power to the 75kW slurry pump. Through precise frequency adjustment, it can flexibly change the motor speed according to actual working conditions, achieving accurate control of the slurry pump's flow rate and pressure.

Tunnel slurry pumps are specialized conveying equipment adapted to complex underground working conditions. Their core structure consists of five major systems. The power system, centered on a high-power motor, provides the basic driving force for the entire machine's operation. The transmission system connects the motor and the pump body, responsible for power transmission and speed regulation. The pump body, as the core working unit, includes key components such as the impeller, pump casing, and pump shaft. The suction and discharge piping system, composed of the suction inlet, discharge outlet, and wear-resistant pipes, connects the working face to the pump body. The control system, integrating a inverter and sensors, is the "brain" of the equipment, enabling remote control and precise parameter adjustment.

Tunnel slurry pumps utilize centrifugal force to transport slurry. After the motor starts, the transmission system drives the impeller inside the pump body to rotate at high speed, creating negative pressure inside the pump chamber. Under this pressure, the slurry from the tunnel face is drawn into the pump chamber through the suction pipe. The high-speed rotating impeller transfers kinetic energy to the slurry, giving it centrifugal force, which propels it along the pump casing towards the outlet, ultimately delivering it to the designated treatment area through the discharge pipe. A inverter can adjust the impeller speed in real time, precisely matching the slurry concentration and discharge volume requirements, achieving efficient and stable transportation.

This solution utilizes a FRECON FR500A 380V/75kW inverter to retrofit the tunnel mud pump with variable frequency speed regulation and remote control. By precisely adjusting the motor speed, the output flow and pressure are adjusted as needed, achieving energy saving and consumption reduction, lowering operation and maintenance costs, improving equipment operational stability and automation levels, adapting to complex tunnel construction conditions, and yielding significant economic benefits.

FRECON FR500A 380V/75kW inverter is used for remote energy-saving control of tunnel mud pumps. It can achieve energy saving and emission reduction, reduce operating costs, and improve equipment operating efficiency and reliability, bringing significant economic and social benefits to tunnel engineering and helping to promote the widespread adoption of advanced energy-saving control technologies.
